Now is the time that tries business leaders’ souls

A prevailing definition of the word license is providing “exceptional freedom allowed in a special situation.” I’d say that’s where business leaders are today.

As we adjust to the deep structural changes the pandemic has wrought upon industry economics, perhaps none is more of an existential threat than the Great Resignation.

This sea change is providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our teammates to design and source their own jobs, including whether they work from remote locales, for what hours, and – in this heated hiring and inflationary environment – at what salaries.

Business leaders who flexibly pivot the quickest are going to win this intensified war for creative talent. Our best tools are what I call the four L’s: Lean in, Listen, Learn – and License.
